Nobody sells blank CDs anymore, sadly. Because its 2015 CDs are becoming obsolete. Every place that used to sell CDs stopped stocking them.
Honda made my moms car without an Aux port, which is pretty much standard on every car made past 2006.
My moms 2006 Civic has no Aux plugin. It has the AUX option the radio but no where to put a cord. Even the 2005 Cobalt base had that.I'm sick of the radio and my CDs. My moms CDs are worse, its just Kings of Leon and Taylor Swift and John Mayer.
For those with older cars and no aux port, what do you do to listen to your music?
(I don't want to replace the whole unit, I'm looking for something cheap like a cigarette lighter thingy)

Look up iDevice for your car, its an adapter that plugs into the back of your radio and you feed it through the glovebox. Gives you an aux input.

Does it only work with apple products? I only have a Galaxy S4 for music. I could use an old ipod though.

Do you have a tape deck? There's a converter you can put in to your deck that you can attack anything with a 3.5 mm jack to.

On my old Saab, I invented an adapter and sold it for a few years.
Current daily driver Volvo? Neutered the tape deck and patched in an aux cable.

my brother installed a Griffin iTrip in the Jetta. it plugs into the 12V socket, and transmits via FM radio to the car. Prior to this, we had a cassette tape adapter, which sucked in cold weather.

Same situation with my '04 Civic, I feel your pain. I just have a set of CD-RWs that I put new music on when I get bored. It leads to a lot of repetitive music but it's better than the radio, and you can still buy them on Amazon. Do they really not sell blank CDs in stores anymore?

I usually use an FM transmitter. Quality varies based on what you buy, but I bought one for $10 about a year and a half ago that had AUX, USB, and memory card input, came with a remote, and it lasted me 8 or 9 months without any trouble.

FM transmitter, then? Hook it up, set it to a channel (preferably one not taken), set your radio to that channel, and Bob's your uncle, you've got music.

Amazon is the only way. But my moms car is like 90% CDs, i want a straight alterntive to save storage space.
I opened my car door today and poor kanye west's first album fell in the snow. Thankfully it still works.

The FM transmitter is the way to go. It works on any device with a 3.5mm jack and you can change what station it broadcasts on to find a spot with no interference.

I walked into best buy and the guy told me Best Buy doesnt sell them. Its more expensive to keep them than not since nobody buys them.
Factory Direct employee laughed. But he works at Factory Direct which is like dead now, so I laughed back. No offence if you work there.

Any car radio spot can add an AUX port in your car for $50-$100 in about 30 minutes. I told the same thing to user The Honda Man. I've seen it done like 3 different times, it's seriously super quick.

id buy a deck like people used to do, but Honda's console is like rocket science to work with since its all curvy and fancy.
I forgot cars had tape decks. I have never driven a car with a tape deck, oldest thing I drove was my dads 2001 Caravan sport, which had a completely custom sound system because my dad is an audiophile.

There's gotta be some kinda outlet store like that up there. I know walmart, big lots, maybe target, and definitely Best Buy and Radio Shack carry blank CDs. You have to have at least one or two of those chains up there...

All of those except big lot. Target is leaving next month.
Target doesn't have it. Bets Buy doesn't. Factory Direct (I think that's Canadian) doesn't. RadioShack and The Source both don't have them.
I'm going to try staples today

My Freind's Mom own's a 2005 Cobalt. It has manual everything except transmission, I'm assuming it's a base model. It has an AUX port. Unless that was an option. But that being on a base cobalt doesn't suprise me, It's standard on everything these days.

It would be like Chevy to put an aux in a base and not the SS... My 06 has the upgraded Pioneer system, and there is no aux on it.

Sorry to hear that man. Those FM transmitters suck. They Blow. Don't let anyone tell you that physics preclude them from sucking AND blowing at the same time. They do. They ARE THAT BAD. Stay away from them, even as a last resort. Trust me, you'd rather sing to yourself than "listen" to one of those. I use the word "listen" loosely.
The only advice I have to offer is that the reason the radio has that button is that there IS an "aux" connection on the back of the radio as detailed in the video. So, here ya go, get ready to be the "black sheep" of the family....
1) Study the video, memorize it. According to the author it only takes 30 minutes to complete the task. 2) 30 minutes, that's the key. 3) instead of his fancy pants mount, fabricate up his connector, but terminate it with a female 1/8" stereo plug on the end of a 4 or 5 foot cable. 4) Wait till your mom is watching a 60 minute TV show. Maybe even a movie on HBO. The longer the better. 5) disappear because "this movie sucks mom". 6) follow the video for removing and accessing the plug from the back of the radio 7) skip the rest of his crap, and just plug in your new female cable and route it somewhere in conspicuous. The glove box, or center console storage thingy. 8) put it all back together. 9) go in, and finish the last 30 minutes of her movie, she'll think your an awesome son
Now, from then on you can just pull out your new female stereo cable.... plug in your favorite mp3 player, phone, whatever, using a cable with 1/8" male stereo plugs on each end. One in your phone's headphone jack, one to plug into your new cable. Rock on.
If that makes no sense, sorry, I'm a horrible technical writer. But, if you can't decipher it, the project also might be a little out of your skillset so far. To that I can only say, google is for more than porn. lol Keep researching it, you'll figure a way. Or, you can walk and listen to your tunes on earbuds. Wish I could be more help man, I feel your pain on the lack of tunes... been there, done that. Although it's been a long time since I was your age. Good luck.
